Capita Defenders of Awesome Board Review

Steve

CAPiTA has defended its title once again with this awesome all-mountain board. “I loved the camber and tip-to-tail flex, and the torsional flex allowed for so much edge control into turns,” one tester claimed. Another noted, “Nail in the coffin here. This thing just rips. Loads of pop. Great stability. You don’t even need to worry about the board failing in any way, you just need to focus on riding.” That predictable and potent feel stems from a hybrid camber profile that offers positive camber power from binding to binding, and a bit of forgiveness in the tips with its rocker and flat kick ends. The lively flex comes courtesy of tip-to-tail poplar wood, with added beech wood strips down the insert pack to beef up response while still giving the board a comfortable torsional flex for turns. The extra spring in ollies comes from two large lengthwise slabs of carbon fiber running mid-binding. “The DOA is on the playful, freestyle side of all-mountain,” chimed another, which is true for this twin-tip freestyle charger. The DOA comes with a few upgrades this season, including stainless steel inserts, stronger Kevlar-bound sidewalls, and a faster base.
